About the event

When  the stay-at-home order arrived, the team at Nuevo Sol, the UK’s first  UK organisation set up to promote British Latinx writers, decided to  draw on the strength of the incredible Latin spirit of collaboration to  help combat the isolation faced by so many. The result is a series of  eight collaborations between Latinx writers in the UK and the United  States, and visual artists in Latin America – and now is your chance to  see selected works.

Boix, a prize-winning British Latinx poet,  begins the event with a reading from the extraordinary novella he wrote  in collaboration with US-based Salvadoran poet Alexandra Regalado, along  with a screening of the short animated film it inspired by El  Salvadoran artist Ulises Vaquerano.

Next, Longhitano, a British  Latinx poet, presents the subversive, queer short film she made with  US-based author Darrel Alejandro Holnes.

The final reading is by  Pineda, a US Latinx poet currently in the UK, who worked with the  prize-winning British Latinx poet and translator Juana Adcock to offer a  female-centred vision of solidarity.

The power of the Latin  spirit shines through all of the work with its passion, humour and  complete refusal to let distance separate or break friendships.
